CDC Adjusts School Safety Guidelines

Students only need to sit 3 feet apart.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on Friday that students returning to the classroom would be able to safely meet 3 feet apart as long as they are wearing masks. The CDC did not update the 6-foot guideline for sporting events, meals, or other extracurricular activities. The new guidelines are expected to increase student capacities moving forward.

Among the updated guidelines was information on the effectiveness of glass desk shields. Dr. Rochell Walensky the Director of the CDC said, “We don’t have a lot of evidence of their effectiveness.” She also stated that the new guidelines are supposed to serve as a “roadmap to help schools reopen safely, and remain open, for in-person instruction.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would guide the CDC to give Americans the most up-to-date recommendations about preventing the spread of COVID-19.
  • For the president’s administration to be effective in mitigating the virus.
  • For students to be safe as they return to school.
